The Vista-compatible version of PCmover automatically moves programs, data files and settings from the old PC to a new machine.
Emir Aboulhosn, Laplink vice-president for global marketing communications, said the product was designed to tackle the problem of migrating to new versions of the Windows operating system.
"Not that long ago, only a few applications had to be reinstalled and some critical data transferred. It was not that difficult. Now, users have dozens of applications to move," he said.
The company said the software does not require the PC administrator to find the original CDs for the application or serial numbers in order to reinstall the application.
PCmover can be used to migrate from a PC running Windows 95, or any later version, to any other version of Windows, including Vista.
Any version of PCmover already purchased can be upgraded.
