Campaigner for Health Service IT review is awarded CBE

Computer Weekly Staff

Martyn Thomas, a leading campaigner for an independent review of the NHS's £12.4bn National Programme for IT, has been made a CBE in the New Year Honours List.

The professor of software engineering has long pushed for the adoption of formal methods for writing software to improve its dependability.

He said, "I very much hope that the recognition of software engineering in the New Year Honours will encourage government projects such as the NPfIT and ID cards to start taking these methods seriously."
