Bedfordshire County Council has taken its IT systems and staff back in-house after settling an acrimonious dispute with its outsourcing partner HBS. Both sides have agreed to drop legal claims against the other.

The council terminated its £267m, 12-year outsourcing arrangement with HBS on the eve of a deadline to make good the problems with its services. Under Bedfordshire's strategic partnership, HBS provided financial management, human resources, ICT and school-support systems.
