The open source Firefox browser again increased its share of the market at the expense of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer in June.
Internet metrics and research company NetApplications.com said Firefox now had 8.71% of the browser market, compares to the 8% it had in May.
IE’s share fell from 87.23% to 86.56% over the same period.
Apple’s Safari browser now has 1.93% of the market, Netscape is on 1.55%, and Opera has 0.59%.
NetApplication.com’s figures are based on user visits to 40,000 monitored websites.
The Mozilla Foundation, which distributes Firefox, issued a patch for the browser this week that fixes 10 security vulnerabilities in Firefox.
