Hewlett-Packard has released a Windows-based storage server product for small and medium-size enterprises with limited resources and IT budgets.
HP said the Windows-based HP Storageworks NAS 500s server allows SMEs to centralise their storage for file sharing, print services, application storage services and hosting Exchange data.
The NAS 500s is based on HP's Proliant ML110 server, and offers a maximum capacity of 320Gbytes.
To complement the NAS 500s, HP has launched the iSCSI Feature Pack, with which an IT manager can migrate from less efficient direct attached storage to networked storage using their existing Ethernet network and, without the need for more expensive Fibre Channel-based storage area networks.
HP's network attached storage system, HP Storageworks NAS 500s Storage Server, is priced at £1,319.
The iSCSI Feature Pack costs £1,085 and the software will work with HP's existing family of network attached storage devices.
