Remote network management

Avocent Corporation has expanded its DS Series of network appliances with three new KVM switches providing access and control with DSView software, from any location to multiple data centre devices in mid-size and enterprise data centres.

With DSView, IT administrators can trouble-shoot or even reboot a server remotely using standard TCP/IP connections with inbuilt encryption.

It incorporates KVM over IP technology which captures analogue signals and converts them to digital packets, compressing them so that they may be transmitted.

According to Avocent, this is its USP and the compression means the signals use only a fraction of the network bandwidth required by other KVM manufacturers, resulting in optimum performance for busy data networks. Techland and Dakota will distribute and offer discounts to accredited VARs. Avocent will also offer lead generation and free training.
