CNBC picks BT for video distribution

Ian Grant

Business and financial news channel CNBC has outsourced European distribution of its video content to BT's Media Network for five years. Terms were not disclosed.

BT will distribute the channel's content from its London studio to its US broadcasting hub in New Jersey plus Frankfurt, Brussels, Madrid, Paris, Milan and Zurich.

CNBC's EMEA network is available to some 130 million homes, 1,400 banks and financial institutions and hotels.

BT already connects CNBC's London studio to the European broadcasting switch at the BT Tower in London for global distribution.

CNBC's parent company, NBC Universal, also uses the Media Network to distribute video content from its London news bureau in Grays Inn Road and its headquarters in Rockefeller Centre, New York.
