Amazon says more of its customers have pre-ordered Windows 7
than any other product, including Harry Potter books. The company
saidWindows 7is the biggest grossing pre-order product
of all time at Amazon.co.uk.
"The launch of Windows 7 has superseded everyone's expectations,
storming ahead of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows as
the biggest-grossing pre-order product of all-time at Amazon.co.uk,
and demand is still going strong," said Brian McBride, managing
director of Amazon.co.uk.
He said that only Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol had sold
more copies than Windows 7. "This is an incredible achievement for
a software product."
In July, Amazon.co.uk sold more pre-order copies of Windows 7 in
the first eight hours of its release than Windows Vista managed in
its entire pre-order period.
Microsoft has said previously that the for every dollar it makes
selling Windows, the wider IT industry makes $25.
