Changebase, which provides tools to help businesses migrate
applications, has found that 95% ofapplication
compatibility issueswith Windows 7 can be
fixed.
The top three non-fixable compatibility problems include system
level driver issues and references to legacy network configurations
(for example, Novell network drivers).
Non-fixable applications generally require an application
upgrade (free or paid for). However, users that do not require the
functionality provided by the non-supported drivers (old USB
scanners, for example) could migrate the affected application to
Windows 7 without encountering compatibility issues.
Internally developed applications should be reviewed by the
development team with detailed remediation information, which will
significantly reduce future development and testing effort.
For some businesses, almost 99% of their applications could be
made ready for Windows 7.
