Mozilla'sFirefoxweb browser is gaining market
share in Europe, having won more than 28% of users in the region to
date, a study has revealed.
The number of users installing
Firefox is growing at an average of 3.1% every four months
according to web-trends monitor XiTi. More than 18% of users in the
UK use Firefox, which is similar to usage in Italy (18.3%) and
Norway (18.6%).
Use of

was highest in Finland (45.4%), followed by Slovakia (40.4%) and
Poland (39.6%), but lowest in Italy (18.3%).
Although Microsoft still has 66.5% of the browser market with
Internet Explorer across Europe, in certain countries Firefox
has now become very popular, especially in Eastern Europe.
"
Internet Explorer is still by far the most used browser in
Europe, but it is losing ground faced with the dynamism of its
challenger," the report stated.
Between 2 July and 8 July in 2007, European countries using
Internet Explorer was 66.5%, compared with 73.3% one year
earlier, from 3 July to 9 July of 2006.
