Sun Microsystems and IT service configuration management
firm Tideway Systems are to build closer partnership links in a
move that will see Sun re-selling Tideway’s Foundation product
alongside its own N1 software in the UK.
The collaboration aims to offer existing Sun customers
simplified datacentre management and deeper visibility into how
their business applications map to the supporting
infrastructure.
Tideway has also joined the new Sun Grid Readiness Offering, which
provides access to resources for developing grid technology
applications, based on Sun technologies. The aim is to provide
service management for grid computing through virtualisation,
automation, provisioning and monitoring.
Richard Muirhead, chief executive of Tideway Systems, said,
“Tideway will be working more closely with Sun in order to meet the
needs of our joint customers. The collaboration provides the
ability for Tideway to extend its geographical coverage and enables
us to accelerate our penetration of the key markets, including
financial services, both as part of the larger grid computing
initiative and also for datacentre optimisation.”
Sun’s director of N1 software marketing Jim Sangster, said, “It
is exciting to work with independent software suppliers such as
Tideway Systems and provide them with the resources to build new
grid technology.
“We believe that Tideway Foundation’s ability to provide a
trusted source of datacentre configuration information alongside
the Sun N1 software portfolio provides an efficient solution for
our customers.”
