As this slide shows, Office 2016 includes real-time typing in Word that lets users see other users’ edits as they make them. The Skype video windows is also part of the product's collaboration features. According to Microsoft, in-app integration with Skype means users can run instant messaging, screen share, talk or video chat right in their documents. Potentially, in some businesses, this may do away with the need to run WebEx or other conferencing services.
However, as the recent outage in Skype demonstrates, if a business starts relying on cloud-powered features like Skype, its users may not be able to work if the service is down.
