Maffei replaced Harry You this summer, who had himself served only nine months at Oracle. Like You, Maffei said he was leaving Oracle for a position elsewhere.

Oracle has been involved in a series of major acquisitions this year.
Oracle joint president Safra Catz will now replace Maffei as CFO while continuing with existing responsibilities.
Maffei, formver CEO at 360networks and a former senior executive at Microsoft, is set to leave the company on 15 November.
“Greg has told us he's looking at a terrific professional opportunity,” said Oracle chief executive officer Larry Ellison, “We wish him well.”
