Oracle is upgrading its application server to create a platform better suited to service-oriented architectures (SOAs).
SOAs enable firms to modify their applications and processes more easily in response to the needs of their businesses.
Enhancements to Oracle’s Application Server 10g will be announced at this week’s Oracle OpenWorld conference in San Francisco.
The platform will include a new business rules engine to ease the change in processes, increase support for web services, and come with an improved enterprise services bus that supports the latest Java integration technologies.
The enhancements in Oracle Application Server 10g release 3 will be available early next year.
IBM also improved its SOA product last week, adding several new features to its WebSphere offering.
