While they cannot compete with the might of Bangalore's high-tech enterprise and its powerhouse of 1,500 technology companies, experts believe there are opportunities in low-end software coding and back-office work.

Incidents of high staff attrition rates and question marks over its infrastructure have dogged Bangalore this year. Confidence in the infrastructure was further shaken last month, when a political spat threw doubt over government support for cheap land and subsidies in Bangalore.

As well as internal competitors, China, Russia and the Philippines are already wooing investors away from India.
