IT services provider FDM is recruiting 1000 graduates for its training scheme in 2011.

The FDM Academy provides postgraduate training for aspiring IT consultants. This year it plans to double its graduate uptake to 1000, five times the number of graduates IBM plan to recruit in the UK.

FDM said it combines postgraduate training with commercial work experience from financial, media, retail, and telecom companies around the world.

In conjunction with the University of Brighton, the company will also offer a fully-funded, three-year masters course in applied computer science for successful academy applicants.

Rod Flavell, CEO at FDM, said the company is committed to tackling the IT skills shortage. "A career in IT provides excellent growth potential and the FDM Academy provides the essential combination of postgraduate training and commercial expertise for graduates who lack the skills required to secure a job in the competitive IT sector, bridging the gap between university and employment," said Flavell.

FDM was voted the best technical graduate recruiter at the 2010 national graduate recruitment awards.
