The London Stock Exchange has appointed a group CIO to oversee the integration of its replacement IT platform from MillenniumIT.
Antoine Shagoury, who joins from the American Stock Exchange, where he was CIO, has in-depth experience with the MillenniumIT platform.
The American Stock Exchange is MillenniumIT's biggest project .
One financial commentator said this appointment shows the influence of the MillenniumIT management over the London Stock Exchange's IT strategy. "They have appointed somebody they know," he said.
London Stock Exchange CIO David Lester will become director of information services and take control of the integration of the Turquoise trading venue and Baikal platforms.
A spokesman at the stock exchange said 2010 is a big year for the company's IT department and the company wanted "more bandwidth" to complete its ambitious projects.
This year will see the stock exchange integrate its business on the MillenniumIT platform and take over the running of trading venue Turquoise.
The announcement raises questions about the existing management team at Turquoise, which is being integrated with the London Stock Exchange.
Yann L'Huillier, CTO at Turquoise, said the management at Turquoise had not yet been informed of the new appointment. "This could suggest they want to change the management of Turquoise," he said.
