Azzurri has unveiled a new mobile business unit to foster increased innovation in the enterprise mobile market, and appointed former O2 and BT executive Richard White to head up the division.
The managed comms services provider said that as its clients ramped up the pace of their own evolution to account for growth in mobile devices, it was time for it to take the lead in developing solutions designed to deal with what it termed the ‘connected workforce’.
Its Mobile Business Unit will lever its existing and extensive portfolio of mobile solutions and convergence skills to deliver elements such as app and document security, containerisation, app management, ECM and file-sharing, among other things.
It will also be working on app development capabilities to offer even more deeply-integrated mobile offerings.
Azzurri said it hoped the unit will demonstrate its effectiveness through lower customer costs and enhanced agility, while maintaining a tight grip on security and management.
Azzurri CEO Vim Vithaldas set out the need for a radical approach to the delivery of IT services and suggested that PC-centric managed services had had its day and no longer resonated with mobile workers.
“Azzurri’s new Mobile Business Unit is the manifestation of this shift to a mobile world, bringing together under one integrated service the products, services and expertise required to enable this new way of doing business. With the launch of the Mobile Business Unit, Azzurri is poised to lead the change in this new world order,” he said.
A former head of financial markets and enterprise fixed services at Telefónica, unit head Richard White said that most businesses now understood there were opportunities to enhance productivity and customer service through mobility, but needed more help. Azzurri, he added, was a “logical choice” as “we already have the managed service capability, development capability and necessary MDM products for security, management, and integration.”
