EMC shuffles management pack to back cloud commitment

EMC has made a couple of senior appointments in its channel team to support its ambition to get more resellers selling cloud products and services

EMC has indicated that it intends growing its cloud revenues through the channel after making senior appointments to lead the charge in those areas.

The vendor recently announced cloud builder and cloud provider practices for resellers and has now brought on JT Lewis and Andrew Bant to head those efforts.

Both Lewis and Bant will report into Terry Beale, EMC's director of channel for UK and Ireland, and will work with 20 Velocity partners in the UK looking to transform the business to more of a cloud model.

Both Lewis and Bant are internal appointments having worked at the vendor handling in the past couple of years customers needs with operational management and developing cloud-based infrastructure respectively.

Beale said that it had made its channel plans clear at the start of the year and was now backing that with these appointments.

"In January we announced that our channel strategy for 2012 is focused on bringing new and expanded opportunity to partners, delivering more predictable revenue opportunity and enabling a new-services-led approach to enterprise IT," he said.

"We're seeing a marked increase in the willingness of partners to collaborate with us at a strategic level, realising that EMC can play a significant role in their growth plans and in the expansion of their portfolios," he added.
