The technology behind the Wimbledon tennis championships

IBM is using big data analytics to help players and fans analyse performance, by tracking movement around the court using an application called Second Sight. For all matches on Centre Court, the software provides a colour-coded analysis of movement and performance throughout the game, allowing players to see how their game and success varies at different times and in every area of the tennis court. The combination of movement and performance statistics is an invaluable coaching aid - IBM provides all players with a copy of the detailed statistics for every game they play at Wimbledon.
