The Marussia F1 Team was born of Richard Branson’s move into the sport in 2009. It has been racing under the new name, following the purchase of the controlling stake by Marussia Motors in 2010, throughout the 2012 season and, despite its strong Russian ties, has its headquarters in Banbury.

Marussia F1 signed a deal with F1 champions McLaren before the 2012 season kicked off to try and emulate the team’s success on a lower budget.
