Managed SSL VPN services are expected to show strong growth over the next five years according to a report by Frost & Sullivan (F&S).
While still a small percentage of the total Managed Security Services Markets (MSSP), managed SSL VPN services will likely reach 10% of the total market by 2007.
"The granular policy management capabilities of SSL VPNs will likely drive an increased amount of services revenue," said Jason Wright, analyst with Frost & Sullivan, in his report entitled "World Managed Security Services Markets”.
SSL VPN services will grow to steal a significant contribution from the firewall/IPSec VPN sector, ramping up to the third largest contributor of MSSP by 2011," according to the report.
According to separate research by Infonetics Research, SSL-based remote access VPN managed services is on the rise. In fact, the number of service providers offering SSL VPN services doubled between 2003 and 2004.
"There is a strong showing for SSL-based VPNs and almost three-fourths of service providers are adding SSL VPNs in response to customer demand," said Jeff Wilson, senior analyst, Infonetics Research.
