The Government is to fund the £20m initiative, due to go operational in April, to tackle the growing threat of high tech crime.

Cliff Saran

The National High-Tech Crime Unit plans to operate at both nationally and internationally on computer crime prevention.

Working closely with Internet service providers, telecoms operators and software companies, the unit will assist and co-ordinate local forces in investigations of high-tech crime such as fraud, denial of service attacks, viruses, organised paedophilia, intellectual property theft and money laundering.
