Dell has introduced a portfolio of services to help businesses manage mobile devices and an increasingly mobile workforce.

Including mobile device management, custom application development and security, Dell claims its services cover back-end datacentre infrastructure, multiple mobile devices and various operating systems.

"The rapid adoption of smartphone and tablet technology is changing how enterprises do business in ways we never thought possible and challenge enterprises on how to best utilise mobility without compromising security," said Steve Schuckenbrock, president at Dell services.

"Enterprise mobility services alleviate these concerns and allow our customers to strategically map out how to best use mobile technology," he said.

Mary Chan, vice-president at Dell enterprise mobile solutions, added: "As the complexity and challenge of managing a wider variety of mobile devices on multiple systems rises, we will deliver a mobile solution that is secure, manageable, scalable and open in support of our customers."

According to UK think tank, Digital Systems Knowledge Transfer Network, the mobile computing devices coming onto the market will be one of the biggest security challenges in 2011.
