One of the areas of computer research which has received considerable attention recently is the development of visual outputs which will provide a closer man/machine interface. In fact, there is nothing new even in this, for one of the first computer developed in this country featured a visual display unit as its output.

Nice nostalgia piece. How many IT pros remember the days of  punched cards, paper tape and reel to reel magnetic tape...
