Tesco Bank is the latest company to enable customers to access mobile banking services using an Apple Watch.
The Apple Watch became available in the US on 24 April, prompting businesses in various sectors to adapt their apps to support the wearable device.
The retail giant, which reported record losses of over £6bn for its fiscal year 2014, has made it possible for customers to view their account balance on an Apple Watch. It has also updated its mobile banking app with a Balance Peek feature to enable quicker and easier balance viewing from iPhones.
“Balance Peek enables Tesco Bank customers to access their account balance quickly and easily and keep track of their finances wherever they are,” said Grant Bourbousson, digital and marketing director at Tesco Bank.
Using Balance Peek, customers must still log in to the mobile banking app on their iPhone or iPad to carry out any transactions. They only see the account balances they have selected and only partial account numbers.
