Halfords.com has launched a new "reserve online, collect in store" service, which has already resulted in 100,000 orders before the national roll-out of the scheme.

Halfords.com has now synchronised online ordering and store fulfilment, and will be rolling out its Reserve and Collect service through its network of stores nationwide this spring.

Customers will be able to choose this service or opt for the traditional method of ordering online for home delivery.

More than 100,000 orders were taken online from November 2007 through to January 2008 prior to the national roll-out.

Halfords.com went to IT services firm Salmon to develop the scheme last year.

High-street online retailers such as Argos already have established reserve and collect services.
