Citrix adds Web security with acquisition
Citrix Systems Inc. said it acquired XML security vendor QuickTree for its compiler technology and Java API for XML processing.
Citrix Systems has announced that it has acquired XML security vendor QuickTree, to address security and performance challenges of XML and Web services.
QuickTree, a small privately-held software vendor, develops XML security engines for XML threat defense and access control. Among its products are compilers for Web services description language (WSDL) and schema files. WSDL is an XML-based language used to enable businesses to describe the services they offer and allow customers and other business partners to access those services over the Internet.
Citrix said it is developing a way to incorporate XML processing directly into a company's existing application delivery infrastructure as a fully integrated feature. It plans to integrate the QuickTree technology into its AppExpert policy framework used by its application networking software to configure application-specific and user-specific policies.
