Cardiff, a division of Autonomy Corporation, has launched a new system to allow firms to get more out of their on-screen documents.
Expertise Recommendation for Intelligent Documents is powered by Autonomy's Intelligent Data Operating Layer (Idol) platform.
The system understands the meaning of an on-screen business document based on the concepts it contains, the person interacting with the document and the environmental context.
Using this information, it can instantly and automatically identify and link the document with supporting content and experts from within the organisation, to assist the end-user in quickly completing a task.
Expertise Recommendation is aimed at organisations in sectors such as financial services, insurance and healthcare, to ensure information and expertise is easily spread across the enterprise.
Mark Seamans, general manager for Cardiff, said, “By applying this solution organisations can break down information silos and tap into crucial expertise and hidden knowledge distributed across the organisation.”
Moving beyond traditional self service technologies that require the manual building and maintenance of rules and databases, Expertise Recommendation for Intelligent Documents is self-learning and self-adapting, and completely embedded within the document itself, requiring no peripheral application.
In cases where subject matter experts are automatically identified and suggested, the user can choose to consult these experts through instant messaging, e-mail or other means.
Expertise Recommendation is designed to get better over time through the automatic application of feedback, to fine tune its understanding of the concepts that distinguish one type of document and one situation from another.
