Computer Associates has reported a 9% increase in second quarter sales and posted a profit, as opposed to the loss it experienced in the same quarter last year.
CA's sales for the quarter ended 30 September were $942m (£554m), up from the $865m last year. The company reported a $41m (£24m) profit compared to the $98m loss it had to absorb last year.
CA chief executive officer John Swainson said better customer support and key acquisitions had helped the company on its way.
The company recently acquired IT governance software company Niku and network management software developer Concord Communications.
