Opera started in 1995 as a research project at the main Norwegian telecom operator Telenor. It is now an independent company quoted on the Oslo stock exchange.
Opera recently launched Opera Mini, a web browser that can run on almost any mobile phone.
However, despite being around for ten years, the company’s main PC browser is currently used on less than 1% of internet users’ machines.
