Flamenco Networks will release an upgrade to its web services management system featuring support for the Oasis WS-Security specification.
The version of Flamenco Web Services Management (WSM), codenamed Monroe, is scheduled to go into beta release this month with general availability planned for June. Flamenco's product is available either as a managed service or as packaged software.
WS-Security is gathering industry support as a mechanism to provide for secure web services. The specification was published by IBM, Microsoft and VeriSign a year ago.
The Flamenco release will support a one-sided proxy function, in which a web service can feature a zero-download at the client, so the client will not need any specific intelligence to handle the web service, said Michael Mitrowksi, director of sales at Flamenco.
Also featured in Monroe is integration with third-party system management tools such as LDAP systems, IBM's Tivoli, or HP OpenView.
In terms of management, "web services can be incorporated within the total enterprise", Mitrowski said.
The product also will support the IBM HTTPR protocol, or Reliable HTTP, for guaranteed delivery of HTTP packets between server and client.
