The news comes a day after Oracle released a software package that sends out online requests for proposals and then scores the responses.
Commerce One president Dennis Jones said the tool, called Commerce One Sourcing, will allow users to make greater inroads towards buying and selling goods in their direct supply chains in an online environment. "The real key is to give the users faster cycle times from sourcing to procurement," he said.
General Motors, a part owner in Commerce One, had a direct input into the creation of the latest offering.
Commerce One Sourcing will cost about $500,000 (£346,000).
