The company said only five "incidents" connected with the faulty power supplies have been reported so far. It added that no personnel or property had suffered damage. Compaq urged customers to stop using the recalled AC adapter immediately and to order a free replacement The affected models are: Armada M300, M700, E500s, E500, V300, 100s, 110, 3500, Notebook 100, Prosignia 170, 190, and Presario 800.
Compaq's action follows similar moves by Dell, which recently recalled 284,000 notebook batteries, and by Apple Computer.
