High street retailers' websites have shown a general improvement in performance since we last highlighted this sector on 16 December 1999, writes Pravin Jeyaraj.
Harrods has seen the biggest progress in accessibility, with only 13 failed attempts out of 1,000 compared to 126 and 354.2 in previous months. Attempts to access Safeway's site failed 17 times out of 1,000 compared to 62 in December, although it is still the poorest performer.
Among the sites tested in this sector, average speed is down by 55% to 5.744s compared to 10.268s previously.
Sainsburys and Thomas Cook continue to top the sector in terms of overall performance; Sainsburys has the largest site, but one of the lowest download times.
