Peer 1 takes a tumble in Q1 results
Online hosting provider Peer 1 Hosting has seen a dip in its first quarter results, which ended Sept. 30. Despite revenue increasing from $23.4 million in Q1 last year to $26.3 million for the same period this year, net income took a slide. Net income decreased from $1.3 million for Q1 last year to $0.36 million for Q1 this year.
Interxion unveils Cloud Hub in 11 European countries
Colocation services provider Interxion has launched 13 Cloud Hubs in data centres located in 11 different countries across Europe. Due to more customers moving their applications into the cloud, the Cloud Hub is designed to provide power, space and bandwidth scalability for cloud-based applications, in addition to low-latency connectivity for users. Inside the Cloud Hub, service providers operating cloud platforms and enterprises building private clouds can colocate their equipment within close proximity to public cloud and content delivery networks.
Red Hat unveils Enterprise Linux 6
Red Hat has announced the availability of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6. The latest version of its flagship operating platform includes a collaboration with Cisco Unified Computing System to yield greater control for customers, improved visibility and performance for virtualised applications.
Avaya shows off VENA
Avaya has added software enhancements to its 8600, 8800 and VSP 9000 Ethernet switches with its Virtual Enterprise Network Architecture (VENA). The switches support the emerging IEEE 802.1AQ Shortest Path Bridging standard.
Netgear gives birth to new ReadyNAS Pro family
Netgear has released its ReadyNAS Pro family aimed at SMEs. The ReadyNAS Pro family is a series of desktop storage system with support for VMware and Microsoft virtual machines, a new replication option, and a 12-month cloud storage subscription. The portfolio includes 2-bay, 4-bay and 6-bay desktop products that range in capacity and price.
