VMware, Cisco and NetApp have unveiled a joint Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) offering for VMware virtual environments. VMware has validated Cisco Nexus 5000 Series Switches and NetApp FAS series unified storage FCoE solutions to support VMware-based virtualised environments.
Quantum posts high revenues
Backup vendor Quantum has announced that its first quarter revenue for 2011 was $163 million, an increase of £3 million when compared to the same period last year. This was due to a spike in branded disk systems and software revenue. GAAP operating income rose to $4 million, up from $200,000.

SNW Europe 2010 fast approaching
The SNW Europe, Data Centre Technologies and Virtualisation World conference will be taking place on Oct. 26 and 27 at the Congress in Frankfurt. One hundred sessions will be taking place, including hands-on labs and presentations around topics such as data management, servers, desktop and IT data centre technologies.
HP releases butterfly design data centre
According to Hewlett-Packard, its new Flexible Data Centre offering has been designed to reduce costs. Its 'butterfly' design has four pre-fabricated modules, all coming off a central administrative centre.
TelecityGroup awarded Carbon Trust Standard
Data centre provider TelecityGroup has been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard across its operations in the UK, along with achieving ISO 14001 certification for environmental management. The company received the award for improving its carbon efficiency from January 2007 through December 2009 across the company's UK operations and subsidiaries. Following a further audit from Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance (LRQA), TelecityGroup has been certified for ISO 14001 standard across all 23 of its data centres in Europe.
