Microsoft will release an evaluation version of Windows Server 2008 R2 tomorrow.
Windows Server 2008 R2 claims to provide greater integration with its new client operating system, Windows 7. Microsoft said this is achieved by simplifying remote connectivity for corporate computers through a feature called DirectAccess,
Additionally, IT departments can provide secured remote connectivity for private and public computers using a combination of the Remote Workspace, Presentation Virtualisation, and Remote Desktop Services Gateway features, Microsoft said.
Microsoft said Windows Server 2008 R2 supports client and server virtualisation provided by Hyper-V and Presentation virtualisation with Remote Desktop Services (formally known as Terminal Services).
The OS is only available in a 64-bit version.
