It has been six months since Barracuda acquired Intronis MSP Solutions as it looked to add managed service backup and data protection offerings to its portolio.
Now UK MSPs will be offered the chance to sell Intronis technology, which is the first launch of the technology outside the US, and there could be the prospect of more features to come beyond just backup and data protection from Barracuda.
In the US 2,000 partners signed up to use the Intrionis ECHOplatform technology to support their SME customers and the expectation is that the scheme here will not only attract existing MSPs that sell Barracuda but will also bring on board some new faces.
Jason Howells, EMEA sales director for Intronis MSP Solutions at Barracuda, said that it had been taking steps to help MSPs prior to the Intronis acquisition last October but this was now "a step forward for us".
"For us to be able to offer a monthly billing structure and Intronis products," he added "We are starting to talk to MSPs and there is very little crossover in the traditional reseller channel and the MSP community. We are starting to see more of the traditional resellers becoming MSPs and we will try to help them."
Howells also indicated that there could well be more features being added to the Barracuda MSP platform as it looked to provide more of its traditiona networking and data expertise in a format that could be consumed by those buying managed services.
The demand from customers also looks like continuing to go in the MSP direction as more are attracted to the monthly predictable payments that come with a managed srvice proposition.
“SMBs are up against budget constraints, data overload and a lack of IT resources. As a result, they are looking to service providers for data protection solutions that are cost effective, yet feature-rich and easy to use,” said Andy Cocking, director at Computeam, a service provider for the education sector.
