Ingram launches managed print service

Ingram Micro has taken the wraps off its PrintSense service to help resellers get a slice of the managed print market

Ingram Micro has taken the wraps off a managed print service offering that it believes plugs a gap in the market where resellers are currently losing out on revenue.

The distributor's PrintSense is a subscription-based service that allows customers to pay on a cost per page basis with consumables and break-fix included.

Ingram has the support of a range of printer vendors, including HP, Kyocera, lexmark, Canon, Brother, Epson and Xerox and the monitoring software that keeps tabs on what customers have used is coming from managed print player EKM.

“We’ve identified that this revenue and profit stream has been difficult to lock down by the IT Reseller channel without extensively investing in infrastructure, therefore resellers are potentially missing out on opportunities. We have been developing this solution with our partners over the past 12 months and we are excited at the opportunities this will bring to the channel," said Ingram Micro head of category for print, peripherals and supplies Gemma Glen.

“Each reseller has a portal which monitors their end-users’ fleets in real time. This opens up opportunities for them as it will highlight where a printer is being under or over utilised, allowing for discussions about hardware sales which of course Ingram Micro can provide support with," she added.
