The arrows in the software market continue to point upwards with growth returning to most areas of the market.
Over the past month there have been various indications that the software market, particularly at the high-end, is recovering following a couple of recession hit years.
Already there have been forecasts that the business intelligence software category is growing and the latest outlook from Gartner shows that the general enterprise end of the market grew by just shy of double digits last year.
Worldwide growth of enterprise software grew by 8.5% last year reaching a market of $245bn bouncing back after a decline in the market last year.
"In 2010, major software vendors expanded their product portfolios, acquired companies where appropriate to their plans, and reached deeper into emerging markets," said Joanne Correia, managing vice president at Gartner.
"The year represented a return to solid footing as the market recovered and expanded in terms of revenue and geographies," she added.
