Network performance specialist Riverbed has promoted its service provider sales boss to vice president of worldwide channel sales as it seeks to up partner revenue opportunities.

Randy Schirman, who joined the firm in 2008, has won plaudits from the company for his efforts to build up Riverbed's service provider and systems integrator partner community, according to worldwide sales senior vice president Dave Peranich.
"We look forward to Randy leveraging his expertise against the broader channel structure," said Peranich.
Schirman's primary focus will be on expanding Riverbed's market exposure in its core WAN optimisation business, as well as high-growth segments such as cloud, disaster recovery and virtualisation.
