Watson is the self-learning computer that IBM built to take on and beat a human expert in a game of the US quiz show Jeopardy. Watson is a self-learning system that uses advanced analytics and statistical techniques to rapidly analyse vast amounts of information. IBM is working with a leading US cancer hospital to develop a new version of Watson to assist oncologists with cancer diagnosis and treatment. The healthcare Watson would take patient data and look through the huge quantities of published literature and research on cancer to make recommendations on likely prognosis and possible treatments.
