Collax to offer Linux for SMBs

Linux server specialist Collax will be targeting SMBs when it shows its range of servers at this year's CeBIT show.

It will be presenting the new Collax Open-Xchange server, a collaboration suite offering all the tools required to facilitate email and efficient teamwork. The product is specially tailored to meet the needs of SMBs.

The company's flagship product is the Collax Business Server, a multi-functional server, which claims to offer all functions relating to security, network infrastructure and communication.

Collax develops and distributes Linux-based products, which can be administered without any Linux expertise. That, says the company, makes the products particularly interesting to businesses without Linux specialists on the payroll: SMBs as well as branch offices of larger companies.

"Making Linux available for SMBs is our goal," says Collax CEO Olaf Jacobi. "That is why, when developing new server solutions, our focus is always on ease of use. The Collax Open-Xchange server is our first new product. In this case, we developed a plug-and-play collaboration suite where the operating system and the groupware solution come from the same stable - and where both can be operated without Linux know-how."
