A phishing attack exposed some 10,000 Hotmail accounts,
Microsoft said yesterday.
Passwords belonging to up to 10,000 Hotmail users were exposed
on an Internet site, but had since been taken down, Reuters
reported.
"Some Windows Live Hotmail customers' credentials were acquired
illegally by a phishing scheme and exposed on a website," a
Microsoft spokesman said.
Microsoft said the passwords had been removed from the website.
Hotmail had blocked access to all affected accounts and was helping
users to reclaim their accounts.
It said the attack did not breach of any Microsoft servers.
