The tiny British overseas territory of the Pitcairn
Islands in the Pacific Ocean relays the mostspamper person in the
world.
But with a population of only about 50, it shouldn't be too
difficult to trace the source of the problem.
Pitcairn, whose inhabitants are the descendants of the
Bounty mutineers, led by Fletcher Christian, heads a top
10 list of rogue spam-relaying nations when spam is measured per
capita.
The list, from web security firm Sophos, shows that the top
spam nations by volume - the US, Russia and China - are
eclipsed when populations are taken into account.
The top 10 spam-relaying nations (per capita) are:
1. Pitcairn Islands
2. Niue
3. Tokelau
4. Anguilla
5. Faroe Islands
6. Monaco
7. Bermuda
8. Falkland Islands
9. Andorra
10. Aruba
When the top three spam-relaying countries are considered in
these terms, the US is is 64th position, Russia 45th, and China
132nd. The UK ranks 50th.
So to the sweet potatoes, bananas, oranges and coconuts exported
from Pitcairn, we can now add spam.
