The British Computer Society has launched a qualification in information risk management.

The ISEB qualification is aimed at information security and assurance professionals. It uses international standards and takes a hands-on approach to risk assessment and management.

The BCS has accredited Ultima Risk Management to deliver a five-day course leading to the ISEB. Ultima managing director Martin Jones said, "This is the first qualification aimed specifically at risk management. The course has a heavy emphasis on practical exercises."

The syllabus covers concepts and the importance of information risk management, the risk management environment, risk assessment and management stages, and information classification schemes.
