Dell has confirmed that John Byrne will step up as its new global channel leader for the future combined company.
Byrne will assume the role upon the completion of the merger.
He was most recently global vice president of sales strategy, planning & channels.
Prior to joining Dell a year ago, Byrne clocked up time at AMD, with roles such as SVP & GM of their client and graphics business and chief sales officer.
“John’s experience adds to the already strong channel DNA in both Dell and EMC, and I firmly believe we are well-positioned to create the industry’s-best channel sales and programs teams,” Marius Haas, Dell’s chief commercial officer, said in a blog post. ”The channel leadership team will include experienced executives from both Dell and EMC, in North America and globally. We are committed to making sure the new team includes the best from both companies with key leaders having important roles in the new company.”
Byrne commented: “As I step into this new role, I’m excited for the enormous growth opportunities our new combined company will offer you, our partners. It’s my goal, along with my team, to not only have the industry’s best Channel sales team but to build the best partner program based on Simplicity, Predictability, and Profitability.
“We’ll have an award winning product portfolio and breadth to help you solve your customers’ business challenges. Over the next few weeks and months as I move into this position, I’m looking forward to meeting with each of you to solicit ideas and feedback as we work together to create more customer value than any other solutions provider in the industry.”
Andy Isherwood has been named the head of HPE’s Enterprise Group and managing director of HPE EMEA. The appointment comes as HPE brings in a host of organisational changes, one of which is an attempt to streamline the global sales organisation.
Isherwood joined HP’s graduate training programme in 1988 and quickly rose through the ranks. For the past three years, he has been MD and Enterprise Group leader for the United Kingdom & Ireland.
Peter Ryan, HPE’s newly appointed chief sales officer, commented: “I have no doubt that the EMEA Enterprise Group is in good hands and will benefit from Andy’s leadership.”
Avnet has announced Bill Amelio as its interim chief executive officer, effective immediately.
Amelio is replacing Rick Hamada, who is stepping down from his position after more than 30 years with the distie.
The new interim CEO has a rich heritage in the tech industry. He began his career with the microelectronics technology division of IBM in 1979 and later became the GM of worldwide operations of the personal computer division. From 2005 to 2009, he served as president and chief executive officer of Lenovo.
“I look forward to working with the management team and all of Avnet’s talented employees worldwide as we strive to achieve profitable growth for shareholders and operational excellence for customers while enhancing the company’s winning culture to the benefit of employees,” said Amelio.
William Schumann, chairman of the board, commented: “Bill’s extensive experience in international business operations, corporate leadership and management will help steer the company toward success in a rapidly changing industry. His proven expertise will be critical in accelerating Avnet’s growth, driving an enhanced execution focus and implementing management systems to promote greater accountability.”
