Moves this week at Zebra Technologies, Nimble, Exertis and Cogmotive

Zebra Technologies announced that it has appointed Bill Cate as vice president of channel strategy, programmes, and operations.

Cate will help strengthen Zebra’s channel strategy, with a focus on the firm’s new partner program.

Since 2011, he has served as senior director of Global Sales & Channel Operations for Motorola. Prior to that he spent 20 years at Sun Microsystems as head of Global Channel Marketing.

“Bill Cate is an experienced channel executive who has consistently achieved impressive results in setting and executing global marketing, sales and program strategies through large-scale channel ecosystems,” said Mike Cho, interim CMO of Zebra Technologies. “He has extensive experience in developing effective, efficient processes and systems to operate and grow the business while increasing the value for everyone in the channel.”

Bill Cate commented: “This role represents an incredible opportunity to continue to enhance and execute a comprehensive channel strategy worldwide using what I have learned and practiced with enterprise technology ecosystems.”


Nimble Storage announced three new appointments, with Dan Cavanagh and Peter Gibbs heading up channel sales and enablement across EMEA, and Gabriel Chadeau becoming the country manager for France.

“Our latest executive appointments underscore the expanding investment and commitment we’re making to accelerate growth across the EMEA region,” said Clare Loveridge, vice president of Sales, EMEA. “Both Peter and Dan bring years of IT sales and marketing expertise, which positions them well to support our expanding channel ecosystem across EMEA with go-to-market sales initiatives and enablement.” 

“We believe we’ve selected the most ambitious and enthusiastic sales leader in France to expand our business operations and the adoption of the Adaptive Flash platform in territory,” she added.

Gabriel Chadeau joins Nimble from Vision Solutions (formerly Double-Take Software), where he served as sales director and prior to that, held roles at both PTC and EMC.

Peter Gibbs is a Nimble veteran and will report to Leonard Iventosch, vice president of Worldwide Channels.  Prior to this appointment Gibbs was on the EMEA Cisco strategic alliances team at Nimble. Dan Cavanagh joined Nimble as a channel business development manager for the company’s EMEA business.


Office 365 analytics provider Cogmotive announced that it is expanding its operations, opening an office in North America, to be headed up by Doug Davis.

“Exclusively London-based to date, Cogmotive has successfully serviced our global customer base from our UK headquarters since 2012, but with Doug Davis joining the team we now enter a new phase of the business in the Americas” said Alan Byrne, Director and co-founder of Cogmotive.

Doug Davis has held roles at FastLane, Quest and most recently Dell Software. He will be spearheading Cogmotive’s efforts in establishing a presence in the States.

Aspect Software has appointed John Hough to the position of regional vice president of sales, Northern Europe. Hough joins Aspect from managed cloud services company Rackspace.

Hough’s appointment comes after the announcement of Stephen Ball as SVP Europe & Africa at Aspect.

Hough commented: “Businesses broadly recognise the need to change, and to transform the ways that they interact with their customers, but often lack the tools to realise their potential. This presents a significant opportunity for Aspect and working alongside Stephen and the rest of the team, I look forward to helping our customers achieve better – and quicker – business outcomes.”


Exertis announced the appointment of Mark Reynolds as IT commercial director for the UK.

Reynolds will be responsible for ‘ensuring the channel benefits from the tools, systems and processes that underpin Exertis’ success in the market’.

“Mark has extensive channel experience in the retail and B2B sectors and will drive, and be responsible for, the growth of our business within our IT categories as we refine our structure to take advantage of the opportunities that exist across the company” said Phil Brown, Exertis sales and commercial Director, UK & I. 

Reynolds joins from Epson, where he spent the last three years as sales director. He’s also held channel management positions at Samsung and Toshiba.
