Tech Data teams up with MendIT

Distributor Tech Data has added MendIT as a channel relationship to provide resellers with access to a repair and warranty service

Resellers have been told numerous times over the past couple of years that the future is managed services and the days of ad hoc maintenance are a business that is heading for history.

While that might be true to a large extent there also continues to be a need from some customers for repairs and maintenance to their hardware.

In a move that should close off a potential gap in a resellers customer offering Tech Data has signed an agreement with MendIT, which provides extended warranties, insurance and repairs.

The option should appeal to those resellers that want to concentrate on other parts of their business and use a third party to cover off the traditional repair business.

The firm has nationwide coverage and deals with laptops, smartphones, tablets and desktops and has its own team of engineers.

David Watts, commercial director at Tech Data, said that the addition of the service would provide an opportunity for some partners that did not offer it themselves  to provide that sort of repair and maintenance option to customers.

“This agreement with MendIT adds further value to our services portfolio and gives our partners an additional way to drive incremental margin,” he said.

“We’ve received a tremendously positive response to our approach from resellers and retailers who are looking to offer a complete package of services for their business customers.,” he added.

Steve Ackers, managing director of MendIT, said that it had ambitions to be the leading nationwide repair provider and the tie-up with Tech Data would support that aim.

“With our fully-trained and accredited engineers, we can meet all the needs of resellers and dealers and their customers on a wide selection of tablets, laptops, desktops and smartphones. We undertake every repair with the greatest of care, efficiency and quality, so they can always be sure that we will deliver the very best service on their behalf,” he added.
